Linezolid 600 mg IP is a prescription antibacterial medicine belonging to the oxazolidinone class. It is used to treat selected bacterial infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive organisms. Depending on the diagnosis and approved product information, it may be prescribed for certain types of pneumonia and complicated skin or soft-tissue infections, including infections caused by resistant bacteria such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Linezolid works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, which prevents susceptible bacteria from producing proteins necessary for their growth.
