Medicine information

Uses & overview

Gatifloxacin & Prednisolone Acetate is a prescription ophthalmic combination containing an antibiotic and a corticosteroid. It may be prescribed for certain eye conditions where susceptible bacterial infection occurs together with inflammation. Gatifloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that helps control susceptible bacteria, while Prednisolone Acetate is a corticosteroid that helps reduce inflammation, redness, swelling, and irritation of the eye. This combination may also be prescribed in selected cases following ophthalmic procedures when medically appropriate.

How to use

Gatifloxacin & Prednisolone Acetate eye drops should be used exactly as prescribed by your ophthalmologist. This combination contains an antibiotic and a corticosteroid, so it is important to follow the prescribed dose and treatment duration carefully. Wash your hands: Wash and dry your hands thoroughly before handling the eye drops. Check the medicine: Check the bottle, label, strength, and expiry date before use. If the product is a suspension, shake it well if instructed on the label. Prepare your eye: Tilt your head backward or lie down comfortably and gently pull the lower eyelid downward to form a small pocket. Apply the drops: Hold the bottle close to the eye without allowing the dropper tip to touch your eye, eyelashes, eyelids, or surrounding skin. Instill the prescribed number of drops. Close your eye: Gently close the eye after application and avoid rubbing or squeezing it. Prevent contamination: Replace the cap securely after use and keep the dropper tip clean. Do not share the bottle with another person. Follow the schedule: Use the medicine at the frequency and for the duration prescribed by your ophthalmologist. Do not stop treatment or increase the dose without medical advice.
