Levetiracetam Tablets IP 500 mg is an anticonvulsant medicine used to manage certain types of seizures in people with epilepsy. Depending on the patient's diagnosis and treatment plan, doctors may prescribe levetiracetam alone or alongside other antiepileptic medicines. It binds to synaptic vesicle protein 2A (SV2A), which is involved in neurotransmitter release, helping regulate nerve activity and reduce seizure occurrence. Levetiracetam may be prescribed for focal-onset seizures and, in appropriate patients, certain generalised seizure types. The 500 mg strength is not suitable for everyone; the dose and frequency depend on individual clinical requirements, age, kidney function, other medicines, and response to treatment.
