What is Modafinil 100 mg used for? Modafinil 100 mg is a prescription medicine that promotes wakefulness. Doctors primarily prescribe modafinil to help manage excessive daytime sleepiness associated with conditions such as narcolepsy. Depending on the patient's diagnosis and applicable prescribing guidance, it may also be used for sleepiness associated with obstructive sleep apnoea or shift-work sleep disorder. Modafinil acts on brain systems involved in maintaining alertness. Its precise mechanism is not fully understood. The 100 mg strength may be selected according to the patient's condition, response, other medicines, and medical history. It is not a substitute for sufficient sleep and should not be used to treat ordinary tiredness or improve performance without medical advice. Benefits and precautions When appropriately prescribed, Modafinil 100 mg may help eligible adults remain more alert during the day. However, the response varies between individuals, and some people continue to experience sleepiness despite treatment. Patients with obstructive sleep apnoea should continue prescribed treatments, such as CPAP, unless their treating clinician advises otherwise. How to use

For shift-work sleep disorder, a doctor may recommend taking it about one hour before the work shift begins. Follow the prescribed dose: Do not increase the amount or take additional tablets if you remain sleepy. Your doctor will determine whether the dose needs adjustment. Swallow as directed: Take the tablet with water and follow the product label. It may generally be taken with or without food unless your prescriber gives different instructions.
