Gabapentin is a prescription medicine belonging to the anticonvulsant class. It is commonly used to treat certain types of seizures and neuropathic pain, including postherpetic neuralgia, which may develop after shingles. In some countries and formulations, it is also prescribed for other specific conditions according to approved indications and clinical assessment. Gabapentin works by binding to the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the nervous system, helping reduce abnormal nerve signaling. How to use
