TASMULINE F is a combination medicine marketed by Steris Healthcare containing Tamsulosin 0.4 mg and Finasteride 5 mg. It is used to manage lower urinary tract symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men. Tamsulosin belongs to a class of medicines called alpha-1 adrenergic blockers. It works by relaxing the smooth muscles around the prostate and bladder neck, helping urine flow more easily. Finasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor that reduces the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that contributes to prostate enlargement. Over time, finasteride can help reduce prostate size. The combination of tamsulosin and finasteride works through two complementary mechanisms to address urinary symptoms and prostate enlargement. Tamsulosin helps relax prostate and bladder-neck muscles, while finasteride acts gradually to reduce prostate size.
