Medicine information

Uses & overview

TRIGLICLAGLAZE 60 by Steris Healthcare brings together three complementary anti-diabetic agents: Gliclazide Sustained Release (60 mg), Pioglitazone (15 mg), and Metformin Hydrochloride Sustained Release (500 mg). This triple-action formulation targets three core pathophysiological defects in type 2 diabetes—impaired beta-cell insulin secretion, peripheral insulin resistance, and excessive hepatic glucose output. Key Uses & Clinical Benefits: Comprehensive Glycemic Control: Offers effective, multi-pathway regulation of both fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels to help patients achieve target HbA1c levels. Stimulates Natural Insulin Secretion: Gliclazide SR (a second-generation sulfonylurea) acts on pancreatic beta-cells to boost mealtime insulin release. Reduces Insulin Resistance: Pioglitazone works as a PPAR-gamma agonist to enhance insulin sensitivity in muscle and adipose tissues, facilitating cellular glucose uptake. Decreases Hepatic Glucose Production: Metformin reduces glucose synthesis in the liver, lowers intestinal glucose absorption, and improves peripheral insulin response. Sustained-Release Formulation: The Sustained Release (SR) mechanism of Gliclazide (60 mg) and Metformin (500 mg) ensures smooth, steady therapeutic activity throughout the day while reducing gastrointestinal irritation. How TRIGLICLAGLAZE 60 Works: Gliclazide SR (60 mg): Selectively binds to sulfonylurea receptors on pancreatic beta-cells to stimulate controlled insulin release. Pioglitazone (15 mg): Improves insulin sensitivity directly at the receptor level in fat and muscle tissues. Metformin SR (500 mg): Decreases hepatic gluconeogenesis and optimizes cellular glucose utilization.

How to use

Take 1 tablet of TRIGLICLAGLAZE 60 daily with meals (preferably during breakfast or the main meal of the day) or as directed by your physician. Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet, as doing so disrupts the sustained-release properties of the formulation.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, light, and moisture. Maintain at a controlled room temperature below 30°C. Keep out of reach and sight of children.

Safety advice

Check with your doctor
AlcoholConsult your doctor

Avoid drinking alcohol while taking TRIGLICLAGLAZE 60, as it increases the risk of severe hypoglycemia and Metformin-associated lactic acidosis.
